 Die am 8. Januar 2005 gegründete Ernst Herzfeld-Gesellschaft e. V. ist nach Ernst Herzfeld benannt. Ernst Herzfeld hat zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts als Architekt, Archäologe, Kunsthistoriker und Historiker grundlegende Forschungen im Vorderen Orient und in Iran geleistet.
Das Ziel der Ernst Herzfeld-Gesellschaft ist es, die wissenschaftliche Forschung auf dem Gebiet der islamischen Kunstgeschichte, Archäologie und Bauforschung zu fördern und einen Austausch der ihr angehörenden Wissenschaftler und Studenten anzuregen.

 The Ernst Herzfeld-Society for Studies in Islamic Art and Archaeology
In January 2005, the Ernst Herzfeld-Society for Studies in Islamic Art and Archaeology was founded in Germany. (→Statutes)
The Society provides a forum for scholary communication and research in these disciplines. The name of the society was chosen to remember the eminent scholar Ernst Herzfeld, who contributed studies on art history, architecture, archeology and history at a time, when these fields were hardly in existence. The Society will organize biennial colloquies. The first one, comprising some twenty lectures on subjects from the Umayyad period up to the 19th century, was staged in July 2005 at Bamberg/Germany. Simultaneously, the first regular assembly of members convened and elected the board of the society. Amid-term colloquy was held in July 2006 at Bonn/Germany. Colloquies in Vienna, Bamberg, Frankfurt, Bonn and Berlin (2011) followed.
